Hello!
I’m Sage Severson, a technical gameplay and systems designer specializing in data-driven systems, mechanics prototyping, and scalable gameplay architecture.
I design and implement gameplay through clear interaction loops where player input leads to system evaluation and responsive feedback. My approach is heavily influenced by combat design, with a focus on readability, player decision-making, and building systems that are engaging and replayable.
This portfolio includes both rapid experimental prototypes and longer-term projects. The experiments focus on isolating and testing specific mechanics or system behaviors, while the larger projects show deeper system design, iteration, and full execution from a traditional game lens.
Each project is built around a specific design problem and solution, with more context provided on its page.
Thanks for playing!
